Beginner Windsurf Class

  • Duration: 1.5 hours per day

    Try this fantastic sport and begin sailing from the first day. 

    Our beginner class includes 20 minutes of on land theory which covers equipment, basic turns, sailing position and safety. 

    The remainder of the class will be spent on water with your own set of equipment, where you will put in to practice the on land theory and discover the incredible sensation of windsurfing in full security thanks to the sandy beach and shallow waters that we have in front of our school. 

  • All equipment and wetsuits are provided. 

    You can learn to windsurf with us from 8 years old.  The material that we have available at our school is very light and easily adapted to all sizes.  Windsurf has long be thought of as a sport that requires a lot of strength, but with modern equipment and instruction, it´s a sport for everyone! 

    We offer both 3 and 5 day beginner courses, by the end of which you will be self sufficient in winds up to 20 knots.

What do I have to bring?

Simply bring your shorts or bikini, water to stat hydrated and solar protection. We'll provide the wetsuit and everything else you might need.

What does the first beginner class look like?

Your 1.5h class will start with 10 - 15 minutes basic theory at the beach.

The rest of the time you will be in the water, where you will first learn to go straight and do your first attempts of turning.

Beach start

Learn how to leave the beach looking like a pro, this first step to understanding the waterstart will level up your sailing and set you on your way to being an intermediate windsurfer.

Fast tack and carve gybe 

Learn the correct technique of these 2 fundamental maneuvers from the start of your windsurfing journey so that you can transfer these skills easily to stronger wind and smaller boards. Our instructors will demonstrate on land and provide you with off water training methods and be with you on the water analyzing and improving your skills.

Harness, footstraps and planing

With lessons held at a flat spot close to El Medano we have the opportunity to help you get to grips with and build confidence in the harness in a safe, comfortable environment. Understanding correct posture, getting the board planing and using the footstraps can prove a real challenge, with our instructors at your side and a combination of on water instruction plus video analysis we can work on the small details and adjustments to get you comfortably cruising around.

Waterstart

After covering the theory and practicing on the beach the instructor will be with you in the water to help you learn this fundamental skill which opens a whole new world of windsurfing, allowing you to sail smaller boards and tackle wavy conditions.  We will explain all the tricks to make you a proficient watertstarter and independent sailor.

Improver - Advanced Classes & Clinics

    From your first carving gybes to the most radical wave moves like Forward Loop or Backloop, our expert coaches will help you reach your goals through a mixture of in water classes, on land theory and video coaching.

Forward Loop

Learn how to rotate through your first Forward Loops, we'll start with some theory and afterwards go into the water together. There we'll provide you with the necessary confidence and motivation to unlock this new jump.

Intro to waves and jumping

From the day we begin windsurfing we dream of catching our first wave or our first jump. Trust in our coaches to help you reach your goal.  It is essential to be able to waterstart and plane in the footstraps before entering the waves.  With this level our instructors can join you in the water or film you from the beach assisting you with launching and landing safely, catching and riding your first waves, jumping and controlling the board in the air.  We advise the best tides and conditions for your level so you can fully enjoy safely the famous wave spot, Playa del Cabezo.

Advanced wave riding

With video coaching sessions we can help you improve your wave riding.  From wave selection to maintaining speed, timing, bottom and top turns up to aerials, takas, wave 360s and goiters. classes are held at one of Europe's famous wave spots, and the location for the PWA World Tour, Playa del Cabezo.  Choosing the best tides and conditions for your goals we have the ideal conditions to push your riding to the next level.

Advanced jumping, Backloop, Pushloop

Our experienced coached know the key points of each of those jumps to help you reach your goals, from first attempts to landed moves!
